CAKE - Grandmother Pittendreigh's Pound Cake

This recipe comes from a hand written note in the front cover of one of Grandmother Pittendreigh's Cook Books.

Sift together:

3 cups sifted all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Pour into large bowl:

1 cup butter, softened

2 cups sugar

4 eggs unbeatened

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon lemon

Beat at number 8 spead for 2 1/2 minutes

Scrap boal while beating turn to speed number 3 and add sifted flour.

Alternate with 1 cup buttermilk. Beat 2 1/2 minutes or until thoroughly mixed.

Bake 350 or 325 for 1 hour 10 minutes.
