MACARONI - Hazel's Macaroni Pie

HAZEL'S MACARONI PIE

According to Bill Pittendreigh, "This is only one of the recipes that people expect when they come for dinner. It has been known that she has had a long distance phone call to secure the recipe."

2 cups macaroni, cooked and drained

12 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded

2 eggs

2 cups milk - Actually, I omit this part of Hazel's recipe

1 tablespoon of butter

1.  Cook the pasta.

2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

3. Drain the pasta.

4. Put pasta into a caserole dish.

5. Beat eggs and mix with pasta.

6.  Dot pasta with butter.

7.  Spoon in pasta and cheese and mix well.  

8.  Spread a nice layer of cheese over the pasta but do not mix into the pasta.

9.  Add pepper on top of pasta and cheese.

10.  Cook in oven at 375 F for approximately 40-45 minutes or until the milk and eggs are set.  

This recipe will serve 6 to 8.
