DESSERT - Mavel's Chocolate Cream Pie

Mavel, or Mae as she was usually called, was the mother of Todd Crittenden, who married my sister, Shannon. 

·        1/3 cup flour
·        2 squares chocolate
·        2 Tablespoons butter
·        3 egg whites beaten stiff
·        1 cup sugar
·        3 slightly beaten egg yolks
·        1/2 teaspoon vanilla
·        6 tablespoons sugar
·        2 cups milk, scalded
·        baked pie shell

1.     Mix flour, baker’s chocolate, 1 cup sugar and gradually add milk.
2.     Heat until thickens and boils.
3.     Set aside for 2 minutes, cool.
4.     Add yolks, cook for 1 minute.
5.     Add butter and vanilla and pour into pie shell.
6.     Beat egg whites, gradually add 6 tablespoons sugar and beat stiff to make meringue.  Put on top of pie.
7.     Bake 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
