BREAD - Maynard's Parson Bread

Maynard Pittendreigh

When Maynard, Ginny and John lived in Brunswick, Georgia, Maynard's church started a tradition of a Fall Arts and Craft Fair as a fund raiser. One of the elements of the Fair was the bake sale. Maynard's bread did not sale well until one of the ladies replaced the label so that it read, "Parson's Bread." It then sold very quickly.

After that, the bread was always labled as "Parson's Bread" and it always was the first to be sold.

For a bread machine:

1 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast

2 cups plus 2 tablespoons bread flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablesppon sugar

1 tablespoon dry milk

1 tablespoon of margerine

1 cup, less one tablespoon, warm water

1. Put dry yeast in first.

2. Add all dry ingredients.

3. Add water.

4. Set the bread machine to cook.
