GARLIC BROWN SUGAR PORK CHOPS

GARLIC BROWN SUGAR PORK CHOPS - Reita Hartline Polman

I have known Reita Hartline Polman since we were in high school in Ware Shoals, SC.  Her brother, John, and I are good friends.  During the Pandemic of 2020, she shared this excellent recipe with me.

Ingredients

  • 2 Bone in thick pork chops, about 1 inch thick
  • 3 tablespoons garlic minced or 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar, or 1 1/2 tablespoons of Splenda brown sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
  3. On the stove, heat vegetable oil in a oven safe skillet (I use cast iron) on medium high heat.
  4. Sear the pork chops for 3 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove and set aside
  6. In the same skillet reduce heat to low and add butter, garlic, brown sugar, red pepper, and whisk until combined, simmer 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add pork chops back into the pan and coat with sauce.
  8. Place oven safe skillet in the oven and bake 8-10 minutes or until internal temperature of pork chops reaches 145F
  9. Remove pork chops and let rest 5 minutes.
  10. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve!
