SNOW ICE CREAM

This was a treat we enjoyed in South Carolina until above ground nuclear tests created a fear of radioactivity in the snow. We never thought about the raw eggs being a danger. Today one should add a pasteurized egg product for the eggs.

1 egg, beaten

¾ cup sugar

1 cup evaporated milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 gallon of clean, fresh snow.

  1. In a bowl, combine egg and sugar, stirring well with a whisk.
  2. Add milk and vanilla and stir well
  3. Place snow in a large, chilled bowl.
  4. Gradually add the milk mixture to the snow and gently stir with a wooden spoon until blended.
  5. Eat immediately.
